Instructors

Major David Arjona served twelve years as an enlisted Marine and twelve years as an officer. His last active duty station was as an Acquisition Program Officer at Quantico, VA. Major Arjona retired in 2014 and pursued a career as a Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) in the Navy Junior ROTC program. His first job as SNSI was at Los Fresnos HS, Los Fresnos, TX, and after seven years there, he relocated to Georgetown ISD to serve as the SNSI GISD Liberty Battalion, East View High School, Georgetown, TX. Maj Arjona holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology from the University of Houston, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, and a Texas Administration/Principal as Instructional Leader Certification. Major Arjona is married to Aida, a SPED teacher at Carver Elementary; they have a daughter and a son.

 

Command Master Chief Carlos Gonzalez served 28 years in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1998 as a Damage Controlman. Throughout his distinguished career, he rose through the ranks and transitioned into command leadership, ultimately serving as a Command Master Chief beginning in 2018. His final active duty assignment was as the Command Master Chief at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, where he served as the senior enlisted advisor to the Commanding Officer.

CMC Gonzalez completed multiple sea tours, serving aboard seven ships, including USS Dubuque (LPD-8), USS Juneau (LPD-10), USS Denver (LPD-9), USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG-81), USS Ashland (LSD-48), USS Patriot (MCM-7), and USS Barry (DDG-52). His shore assignments include Damage Control “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois, Afloat Training Group Western Pacific (ATGWP) Yokosuka, Japan, and ATGWP Detachment Sasebo, Japan. He also completed a tour in Norfolk, Virginia, and spent a total of 17 years stationed in Japan.

CMC Gonzalez earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior University. A native of Delano, California, he is a first-generation American who credits his upbringing and family values for his strong work ethic and commitment to service. He is married to his wife, Adriana, and they have two children. He retired from active duty in 2026 and continues to serve the community as a Naval Science Instructor, dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders through the NJROTC program.

Naval Science Instructor (NSI)

It is my pleasure to serve as one of three Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Instructors. I started teaching at Georgetown High School (GHS) in Georgetown on January 22, 2013. I proudly served 22 years and nine months in the United States Navy and "transitioned" from the Navy on December 31, 2012. I am a "Military Brat"; my father served 23 years in the United States Air Force. I joined the Navy shortly after graduating from Hillcrest High School in Sumter, SC. I have been stationed on the following ships: USS TRUETT (FFT-1095) in Ingleside, TX, USS NICHOLSON (DD 982) in Charleston, SC, USS VINCENNES (CG-49) in Yokosuka, Japan, USS AUSTIN (LPD-4) in Norfolk, VA, and USS MAHAN (DDG-72) in Norfolk, VA. I was stationed at the following shore stations: Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, FL, and Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL. I enjoyed my 3.5 years at RTC Great Lakes as a Recruit Division Commander (RDC), where I yelled and screamed at recruits and eventually turned them into motivated, "hard-charging" Navy Sailors. "HOOYAH"!
