Golf
The East View High School Patriot golf team is designed to provide participation and competition opportunities for our students. Although it is not a “learn to golf” program students with a limited golf background do have an opportunity to try out for the team. If they demonstrate a basic understanding of the fundamentals, a strong work ethic, a coachable attitude, a commitment to their academic responsibilities, and a genuine team spirit, they will be given an opportunity to join the team.
We are fortunate to have a full scale driving range on campus and this is where we practice a couple of days each week. This also increases the practice opportunities for students who are involved in other sports or extra-curricular activities, enabling them to stay on campus and practice before or after school, as it fits their schedule.
The golf team also shares a beautiful, full size, practice putting green located on the GHS campus. We plan one day a week there to work on putting drills.
We also practice at Berry Creek Country Club and at the Sun City golf courses.
High school golf is a year around sport. The UIL allows players to compete in 8 tournaments during the season prior to our two round district championship. We typically play 4 tournaments in the fall and 4 in the spring before the district championship which is played the very end of March or the first week of April. We are proud to have had teams and individuals advance to the regional tournaments a number of times in our short history.
Beyond the general expectation of expecting players to develop into more skilled competitive golfers we view participation on the golf team to be a great opportunity to learn valuable life lessons. Character building is built into our process as we work together to become better individuals and teammates.

Head Coach - Kris Inman
I grew up in Minnesota, and then lived in Florida and Colorado before moving to Georgetown in 1987. I grew up playing every sport and my favorite was the one I was playing at the time. I earned a BBA from Abilene Christian University in 1982 and married Marci that summer. My master’s degree, in Athletic Administration, is from the University of Texas where I was on staff as the golf instructor.
Before returning to teaching in 2001 I held different jobs within the golf industry and owned a retail business for 10 years. Since 2003 I have been a GISD golf coach and am proud to be the coach of the East View Patriots. I love working with students and watching them develop into young adults.
Marci and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this summer. We have a daughter and a son who are GHS grads and who attribute much of their success to participating in athletics. My hobbies include keeping up with all the high school teams, motorcycle riding, remodeling projects and church activities.
